Why is the earth round?

Fist at all, I would like to introduce my self again for a new blogger who is coming on my blog now.
My name is Lamtiar Br Hutabarat. You may call me Tiar or Tayerrr, It's okay. I am student in University Christian of Indonesia. Now, I am in 4th graduates. So, in this blog, I want to share you about Time and Places. Exactly, This is my duty from Integrated skill 4. 

Talking about Time and Space, What think is pop up in your mind? 
Certainly objects that are in outer space will cross our minds, right?
Outer space of course we already know what objects are in outer space, like, the moon, stars, sun, planets, satellites, comets, galaxies, and many other outer space objects.

Seeing the beauty of outer space, have you ever thought how it would feel if we lived and lived in space? Is living in space is possible?

Well, I said it's possible!
Because the beauty of outer space makes people more tuning and wants to find out more about space. Humans are willing to spend money, time and energy to find out more about space.

Then how do astronauts know that our earth is round?
yes of course, he will need a lot of money to go to space to find out the shape of the earth that we occupy. 

At school, we learn that the shapes of the Earth and other planets are round. This is proven by various theories. Of course, the question of whether the shape of the Earth is not round becomes a question that tickles and triggers us to think critically. Well, let us consider the following 5 facts that prove that the shape of the Earth is round!

It is common knowledge that the Moon is round. The moon will seem to change from crescent, full moon to crescent again when viewed from Earth. Even the prediction of giving a date based on the Moon is also very accurate. This means that the Moon rotates in a clear orbit.

Aristotle, who made quite a number of observations about the nature of the Earth's sphere, saw that during an eclipse of the Moon, shadows on the surface of the Moon were round. This shadow is the shadow of the Earth, because at that time the position of the Earth was between the Moon and the Sun. It also proves that the Earth has a spheric spherical shape.


Shadow and Stick.



If you try to stick a stick into the ground, the stick will produce a shadow. Shadows move with time, which is the ancient principle of Shadow Clocks. If the shape of the Earth is flat, if two sticks are planted in different locations will produce the same shadow:

Imagine the sun's rays (represented by a yellow line) going past two sticks (white lines) which are at a distance apart. If the Earth is flat, the resulting shadow will be the same length, no matter how far friends put sticks.

But the reality is not like that. If you measure two sticks with a certain distance, the length of the shadow will be different. This is due to the round shape of the Earth.

Time zone presence.




If time was in New York, it was 12:00. The sun is right above us. Whereas in Beijing, it's 12:00, midnight, and the Sun won't be found there. The sun will rise and set at a certain time according to their respective countries.

We have a time zone because when the Sun illuminates one side of the round Earth, the other side will be dark.
This can only be explained if the Earth's world is round and rotates around its axis. At a certain point when the Sun shines on one part of the Earth, the opposite side will be dark. This is what makes the time zone differences between countries.

Just imagine if the Earth was flat, the light that illuminated the Earth would look like a spotlight on the stage. Because it is like a spotlight, we will be able to see the sunlit area from the dark area. Thus, of course time zones will not exist.

In the past 60 years, space exploration began. Various countries have launched satellites, probes and people into space. Some astronauts have returned, some of them are still hovering in space to carry out the task. The astronauts sent amazing pictures to us on Earth. And in all these photos, the Earth turns out to be a ball. The curvature of the Earth is also seen in many astronaut photographs from the International Space Station.
